Getting Interviewed for the First Time

long exposures interview

A couple months ago, I received an email asking if I wanted to be a guest on The Understand Photography Show with Peggy Farren. The first feelings and thoughts I had were filled with elation. I had never been formally interviewed about my photography, let alone live on Facebook. Of course I replied, “Yes, I would love to.” After a few emails, we decided to speak on the topic of long exposures and what beginners should know when starting out.

As the day of the show grew closer, I began to feel the nerves. I questioned my decision to go on the show. I’ve always been the guy behind the camera, both in my television career as well as with my photography. In the end, I think it was just telling myself to have fun and to never look directly in the camera is what finally calmed the nerves.

The day finally came. I made the two hour drive to Naples and I was surprisingly calm. It was such a fun experience and I’m glad I did it. Peggy, Joe and Heather were great and made me feel at ease. As Joe counted down the start of the show, I took a deep breath, exhaled and smiled. The rest is history. Click the link below to watch the episode and see all of the show notes. Remember to check out my in-depth blog post here on how to take long exposures. I’ll teach you the basics and what tools you will need to be successful. I hope you enjoy the episode. Feel free to leave comments below. I would love to hear what you think, and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog if you haven’t already.
