Florida black and white landscape photography

About the Work

I photograph Florida the way most people never see it: an hour before sunrise, waist-deep in a cypress dome, waiting for the light to find a roseate spoonbill or for a summer storm to build over the sawgrass. Every image on this site began that way, in the field, in Florida landscape and wildlife photography’s most demanding conditions, with no shortcuts between the moment and the print.

My work centers on the Greater Everglades ecosystem: the freshwater marshes and cypress strands of Big Cypress National Preserve, the coastal prairies of Everglades National Park, and the smaller wetlands scattered across South Florida that most visitors drive past. The recurring subjects, roseate spoonbills, great blue herons, wood storks, and white egrets, are more than beautiful birds. They are indicators of a watershed under pressure, and photographing them well means understanding water levels, nesting seasons, and weather patterns as much as light.

Each photograph here is available as a limited edition fine art print, produced to archival standards and inspected by hand before it ships. Editions are kept small deliberately. When an edition sells out, it’s gone, the same way a perfect morning of fog over the sawgrass never quite repeats itself.

A portion of my work supports wetland conservation in South Florida. If these landscapes move you, the best thing you can do is see them in person, and the second best is to bring one home.
